Residents Enjoy a Trip to The Philadelphia Museum of Art

On January 7 residents of The Hill at Whitemarsh enjoyed an excursion to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exhibit, Arshile Gorky, A Retrospective included a docent-led tour by a “Hill” resident.

Live concerts and lectures coming soon to The Hill at Whitemarsh

Jonathan Takiff, the music and technolgy reporter with the Philadelphia Daily News, recently wrote an article that featured The Hill at Whitemarsh as the first continuing care retirement community to host the Philadelphia Orchestra via SpectiCast technology.

Big Day for Oasis of Green

For about as long as roads have led travelers through the Whitemarsh Valley, vast, rolling pastures and crop fields have distinguished the hillsides just outside Philadelphia's northwest border. The 426 acres of Erdenheim Farm have endured the centuries as open, agricultural space, an artifact of William Penn's era still alive and green amid a sea of suburbs.

Erdenheim Farm has Changed Hands

For the first time in a generation, Montgomery County's sprawling Erdenheim Farm has changed hands. In a 10-way, multimillion-dollar deal that permanently restricts development on 426 acres of the treasured land, most of the former gentleman's farm inherited by the late F. Eugene "Fitz" Dixon Jr. became the property yesterday of a preservation foundation and a Radnor executive.

The Hill at Whitemarsh ACX Art Exhibit and Reception

The Hill at Whitemarsh announces an Art Exhibit and Reception to proudly display the work of over 30 local artists who are members of Artists Cultural Exchange (ACX). Featured local artists Mickie Rosen and Perky Cohen will be in attendance the afternoon of June 18th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Model Villa at The Hill at Whitemarsh.

The Philadelphia Orchestra echoes from The Hill at Whitemarsh thanks to SpectiCast

Recently launched SpectiCast kicked off its inaugural season on Friday, June 5th with a free concert to communities nationwide. The state-of-the-art Theatre at The Hill at Whitemarsh was one of a select number of sites to premiere the first in this series of concerts offered by the new digital broadcasting company. By delivering a show-stopping program live from Verizon Hall, SpectiCast helped The Philadelphia Orchestra reach audiences well outside the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

David Kim and Juliette Kang Give a Masterful Performance at The Hill at Whitemarsh

On June 4th at 2pm, The Hill at Whitemarsh welcomed back to its Great Room the gracious and personable Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Mr. David Kim. This, his second appearance at The Hill since its opening in May of 2007, included something extra special as David was joined by his stand-mate and Associate Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Ms. Juliette Kang. The 120 in attendance for the private concert were treated to the airy allegro and artful adagio of the String Duo No. 1 in G major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with Ms. Kang on viola, to open the program.

The Hill at Whitemarsh Donates to Philabundance

The Hill at Whitemarsh was pleased to donate 420 pounds of food collected during a community food drive held in December of 2008. The items collected were donated to Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization. Philabundance is a not-for-profit working to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by acquiring food and distributing it through organizations serving people in need.
