Fitness Fact:
Having the correct room temperature is very important to maintain in a fitness room.
American College of Sports Medicine recommends that fitness centers set thrermostats between 68 and 72 degrees. The harder you exercise, the warmer you get; however, not everyone can move quite as fast and/or may be on medications that make them intolerant to cold. Our fitness center is set at 70 degrees and may fluctuate up or down a degree or two which will keep it comfortable and safe for everyone.
Research update:
Sidewalks encourage outdoor activity.
According to a survey of 11,541 people in 11 countries, those who lived in neighborhoods with amenities such as transit stops, sidewalks, and low-cost recreational facilities were more likely to report moderate-to-vigorous activity at least five days a week than residents of neighborhoods with no activity-friendly amenities, or neighborhoods designed for cars. Access to sidewalks was the most important factor. (Source: American Journal of Preventitive Medicine, June 2009)
